Social responsibility is a Core Christianity Principle

The Bible and the teachings of Jesus provide guidance on how Christians should demonstrate social responsibility, including:

  • Serving others: Jesus demonstrated social responsibility by serving his apostles during the Passover. He also commanded his followers to "care for one another, as I have cared for you".
  • Meeting needs: Christians are called to meet the spiritual and physical needs of people.
  • Being a responsible steward: Christians are called to be responsible stewards of God's creation.
  • Being generous: The Bible teaches that generosity is likely to be rewarded, while greed is not.
  • Being just: Christians are called to strive for social justice, which is grounded in divine love.

Social responsibility can be divided into social service and social action. Social service involves directly meeting human needs, while social action involves addressing the causes of human need.
