They are involved in a variety of illegal activities, including drug and gun trafficking, robbery, prostitution, human trafficking, and fraud. - Cargo theft:
Organized theft groups (OTGs) steal cargo worth an estimated $15–35 billion annually. They target cargo at ports, truck stops, and other points along the supply chain. - Transnational organized crime (TOC):
TOC groups have an estimated annual revenue of $2 trillion. - Human trafficking:
The US has one of the largest human trafficking markets in the world. Victims are primarily from the US, Mexico, and the Philippines. It is estimated Human Trafficking is a $250 Billion annual industry. - Drug trafficking:
Drug trafficking is the most lucrative form of criminal business. Drug trafficking annual revenues exceed $150 Billion in the United States, cost taxpayers hundreds of millions in law enforcement costs, and killing over 100K people each year. - White collar crime:
Includes counterfeiting, identity theft, and fraud, costs the United States taxpayers $500 Billion annually.
